AFJROTC

Welcome to AFJROTC (also known as "Aerospace Science" in the Course Catalog)

"Developing Citizens of Character"

Let me begin by telling you what AFJROTC is NOT….

  • It is NOT the Military and there is NO requirement for cadets to join the military
  • It is NOT only for kids who want to join the military

Now that I’ve told you what AFJROTC isn’t, let me tell you what AFJROTC is….

  • It’s a voluntary, elective course that earns a PE credit
  • Its a course that CAN be taken simultaneously with Band, Athletics, AVID & Honors Courses
  • It’s a fun and structured course that requires dedication, discipline and determination
  • Its a place for students to “belong” and one that often provides a sense of family
  • Its a place where students learn to think “beyond themselves and beyond this moment”
  • Its a place to EARN leadership experience, rank & compete for college scholarships
  • Its a place to get involved with the community by earning community service hours
  • Its FUN

Here are also some “fun facts” that you could also find interesting:

  •  17 cadets from Marcus have ALREADY earned their PRIVATE PILOT’S LICENSES courtesy of the AFJROTC Flight Academy Scholarship Program.  These scholarships are currently valued at over $27,500 each come at no personal expense and with no military obligation.

  • Two Marcus AFJROTC cadets were selected for full-ride, 4-year AFROTC cadet scholarships valued at approximately $250,000!  Only AFJROTC cadets were eligible to apply for this scholarship!
  • Marcus was one of only 16 Air Force JROTC teams in the nation to be selected to compete in the 2024 JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl in Washington DC
  • Field trips and orientation flights are a big part of what we do.  We've flown on CH-47 Chinook helicopters C-130 Hercules, KC-135's and we've visited places like the USS Lexington, the Johnson Space Center, Lackland, Tinker and Altus Air Force Bases, we've met the Governor at the Texas Capital and we've visited the Air Force Academy.  We’ve also gone to local ropes courses and gone indoor sky diving.
  • Some of the universities former cadets attend / have attended include the Air Force Academy, the US Naval Academy, Texas A&M, University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, Texas Tech, University of Nebraska, Sam Houston State University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Arizona State University, University of North Texas & Texas Woman’s University
  • AFJROTC is offered 2nd, 3rd & 4th period
