governmental sites, web site evaluation guidelines, education "gateways,"
media literacy sites, webquests, copyright and plagiarism information, clip
art sites, and content specific sites. We encourage you to look there first.
In the center of the site, you will find link buttons to the
subscription databases paid for by LISD or by Region XI. These provide access
to thousands of articles, stories, reports, studies, on the major subjects
your students are researching, as well as copyright free photographs to use
the in presentations through the Multimedia archive.
In the right column, you will find links to the MARCUS
BOOKMARKS, which provide Marcus students and staff
with additional subscription databases purchased by
the Marcus library. In all cases, a user name and
password is required to access either the Marcus site
or the LISD site. these bookmarks are available by
remote access on the internet with the username and
password available from the librarian.

periodical materials, transcripts of the interviews, photos and other media,
and United Streaming and Power Media Plus streaming video collections.
Teachers
may check out books for one month with additional renewals. You may also request
that books dealing with specific subjects be placed on reserve while your
students are doing projects in that area. Please see a librarian to arrange
for this service.
Videotapes
and DVD's are available from the AV Software Room. The computer in the room
is linked to the online catalog. To be sure you have the item, sign up for
it on the date(s) you will need it in the AV Software Sign-Up Book. Items
are checked out on the day of use by signing the BLUE checkout card and placing
the checkout card in the box on the sign-out table near the front desk. Checkout
of software is normally for one to three
days only.

Scheduling
Classes:
The library
can accommodate up to three classes in each block with the exception of Third
Block/Lunch when only two classes can be accommodated. Sign up for the date
and blocks you wish to have your classes come to the library on the Sign-Up
Book near the checkout desk. Be sure to check the dates for which
you are signing up.
The librarians
are available to do orientations to print, subscription databases, and Internet
resources related to the topics on which your students will be working. Please
give librarians at least a 24-hour notice if you want this done.
If you have
a new project, you will need to collaborate with one of the librarians so
that they can be prepared with the materials that your students will need,
and tailor their instructions to enhance your objectives in the research activity.
At the outset, you will know how much information the library has available
for your students' projects/assignments.
