Dress
Code <back to top>
The intent of the dress code is to help provide a positive
learning environment.
- Shorts/skirts
for female students - Marcus Student Handbook states, "Female
students may wear skirts, pants, or shorts of thigh length."
This policy will be strictly enforced to be that the bottom of shorts/skirts
must be no higher than 4" above the knee. Boxer-type
shorts or pajama-type pants are prohibited.
- Tops
for female students - Sleeveless, short-sleeve and long-sleeve
tops are acceptable, i.e. no blouses that come off the shoulders. Tank tops,
spaghetti straps, low-cut midriffs, and/or tops with open backs are prohibited.
Blouses that come off the shoulders will not be permitted nor will blouses
with open backs. The standard for determining an appropriate top will be if
the top covers the midriff when the student raises his/her arms above the
head. Cleavage should not be visible at any time.
- House
Shoes - are not permissible.
- NEW
POLICY - NO pants with holes anywhere.
- Shorts/pants
for male students - All undergarments must be covered, i.e.
no pants should "sag" below the waist.
- Shirts
for male students - Tank tops are prohibited.
Vests and shirts with large armholes must be worn with another shirt underneath.
- For
all students - Any clothing, which is considered profane,
obscene, suggestive, morbid, or displays violence, drugs or alcohol, is prohibited.
This includes but is not limited to images of skulls, daggers/weapons, and
grotesque objects. This will be strictly enforced.
Student compliance with dress code is expected, and those
who choose not to comply will be issued Wed./Sat. school and given the opportunity
to comply immediately. If unable or unwilling to comply with dress code immediately,
students will be placed in PAS (in-school suspension). It will be considered
insubordination for multiple offenses.
Absence
Policies <back to top>
Notes are required even after speaking with an attendance
clerk over the telephone. Marcus must receive a written note within three
days for the absence to be excused. Thanks for your help.
Illegal
Substance Search Program <back
to top>
It is the opinion of the Lewisville Independent School District's
Board of Trustees and professional
staff that the great majority of the students and parents within the district
desire a school free of drugs and alcohol. Opportunities to learn are
drastically reduced when any individual is under the influence of either substance.
Therefore, as a step toward further insuring that an environment
free of drugs and alcohol be assured for our students, the district has contracted
with an outside agency for the purpose of detecting such possible substances
in the school.
The program makes use of specially trained dogs capable of
detecting specific illegal substances. In addition to drugs and alcohol,
the animals have the ability to locate firearms, ammunition and fireworks.
The primary objective of this program is to discourage individuals
from bringing illegal substances on the campus. If an individual disregards
the caution, and is determined to be in violation, such person will be subject
to prosecution both within the school community and under the law.
Help us as we work together to maintain a school setting
where teachers can teach and students can learn.
Parking
Information <back to top>
Park in the marked parking spaces only. We will tow cars parked
on the grass, in fire lanes, or on the sidewalks. This applies especially to
the blue, or sports lot. Warning - the businesses across Dixon
Road have requested that students not park in their spaces. They will tow your
car if they see Marcus students parking there. Please be safe and
courteous drivers.
