Marcus Band
2007-2008
Congratulations to members of the Concert Band,
Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble for their outstanding UIL
performances!
All three groups received exclusively first division ratings,
with Marcus having been the only school over the two-day contest
to earn this distinction.
Congrats
to our illustrious Marcus Drumline! Both our lines competed
in the Plano Drumline competition.
The Silver Line earned 1st place in the Drumline Show Division
and earned a staggering score of 96.33, with a three point spread
to the group in second place. They were awarded the Outstanding
Snare Line, Outstanding Tenor Line , Outstanding Bass Line and
Outstanding Front Ensemble for the contest. They were also awarded
the Drop 6 Music Trophy for Oustanding Musical Arrangements
(completed by our very own Kennan Wylie).
The Red Drumline earned 11th place in a field of over twenty
entries in the Standstill Division A. They scored a 77.0 amidst
the 'varsity lines' from several 4A and 5A drumlines and had
a GREAT show.
Hearty
congratulations to the MARCUS BAND for their outstanding performances
at BOA on Saturday! The Marcus Band earned its first Bands of
America Regional Championship. In preliminaries they earned
first place and took Outstanding Music Performance as well as
Outstanding General Effect. In finals they took first place
as well as captions in Outstanding Music, General Effect, and
ties for Visual Performance. It was truly and amazing night!!!!
Bands of America issues a beautiful commemorative
medallion to the 1st place bands at each regional. These medals
will be distributed to each participating students at the Saturday
October 27th Exhibition performance at Goldsmith Stadium.
