Marcus
Band took 2nd Place in the finals at the Texas UIL Area C Marching Competition,
October 23rd, 2004. They competed against 24 bands to make finals. Then competed
against 10 bands to come out as 2nd in the Area. As one of the top 4 bands from
the area, and for the first time in Marcus High School history, the
Marcus Maruauder "Whatever It Takes" Band advanced to UIL State
Competition at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas where they
placed 12th Overall.

It has truly been a phenomenal season for the Marcus High School Band.
What a great way to end the 2004 marching season! Many goals were accomplished
and morale is at an all time high. The effort the students put forth in San
Antonio was inspirational to all , but most importantly, "Bravo" to
the level of professionalism displayed by the students on and off the field.
It is never an easy task asking 200+ students to be well-behaved and follow
rules at all times. Our students, with the help of the wonderful chaperones
in attendance, stepped it up and made the trip one to all be proud of.
The Bands of America finals performance was one of the 'highest energy' performances
of the season. The band finished 9th overall in prelims out of 43 bands and
12th overall in finals. This marked the first time since BOA participation that
the band has finished a finalist at a BOA
Super Regional - Alright, Alright, Alright, Hu!
State Marching Contest Back
to top
The State Marching Contest process began in October with the Region UIL competition.
A total of 163 bands qualified from 24 regions to advance to their respective
Area Marching Contest. After the 7 statewide Area contests, 31 bands advanced
to the Texas State Marching Competition - Marcus High School being one of the
31.
After the State preliminaries, Marcus ranked 12th amongst the "finest"
bands in Texas....just barely missing out on the opportunity to advance to the
top 10 finalist. 12th out of 163 bands is quite an accomplishment! Awesome Job
Marcus Band! The students truly came through with their best 'execution' performance
of the season. We as a staff are extremely proud of these fine young musicians
and their dedication and commitment to producing a 'Superior' product. We feel
very blessed to be working with some of the very best students in the state
of Texas.
Many thanks to the "Amazing" parents working behind the scenes to
ensure that the students were always well nourished, well mannered and well
prepared with the right equipment at the right time. Without such a strong parent
support network, the band wouldn't be where it is today. A special thanks to
Chuck Jones and the truck drivers, and of course all of the chaperones - you
guys logged in a lot of miles at odd hours.... thank you so much.
