PTSA Student Directory Advertising Help Wanted!
The MHS PTSA needs your help finding advertisers for the school directory. Our main goal is to raise enough money to cover the costs of publishing the directory. Anything over and above this amount would be used by the PTSA to provide student recognition awards, scholarships, parent education programs, cultural arts programs, teacher appreciation and other activities. If you can volunteer some time to contact local businesses by mail or in person before September 6th, please call Malinda Lee at 972-317-4217. Thanks for your help!!!

The Great Unfundraiser
Dear Membership,

Thanks to all you who have already participated in the great "Unfundraiser". You are done spending on the PTSA for the year.

Unfortunately, we have not yet met our goal or our needs. So please, those of you who have been meaning to write that check or have had to delay your contribution due to other needs (you know like, electricity!!!!), please consider giving at this time.

We have attached the original flyer to this newsletter for you convenience. You can send your check and form (if you want your name published) with your student, drop it off in the main office in our PTA box, or you can wail it to the school (Attention: PTSA).
Any amount is sincerely appreciated. Thanks again,

Silvia Meiss
VP Budget & Finance

*** Don't Forget,
other ways to keep giving throughout the year to your PTSA is to remember to use your Kroger key tag (extras are located next to the PTSA box in the main office) and Tom Thumb cards (make sure they are linked to account 6861). 1% of all your purchases comes directly to us twice a year.

2005-2006 Leadership Development Council

The PTSA has a special student Committee on its board called the PTSA Leadership Development Council. This council shall consist of at least two members of each class selected by application and interview by the President, and approved by the Executive Board. Each student will be assigned a PTSA mentor who is an officer or committee chairperson (Mentors shall not be that student's parent). Responsibilities are:

  • To be a member of the PTSA
  • Attend tow Executive Board Meetings
  • Attend the April General Meeting
  • Agree to work with an assigned Mentor on a PTSA committee
  • Complete a "What I have learned about the PTSA..." report at the end of the year.

Our PTSA is represented by parents and teachers and students, and because students are included, we would like them to participate more actively in the organization. This committee has been established not only to help our students learn organizational and leadership skills, but to all us to have input from them regarding the school and PTSA commitments.

A certificate will be presented at the end of the year for their student portfolios, providing the above objectives have been met.

We still need Freshman and Senior students for this year's PTSA. If your student is interested, please have them fill out the form below and turn it in the front office.
