Service
Faculty Council has accepted service to the following organizations:
CCA (Bargain Depot or Food Pantry)
The Humane Society
Lewisville Recreation Center
Habitab for Humanity
After school tutoring at elementary or middle schools
Lewisville or Flower Mound Public Libraries
Hospital volunteer work
Girl Scout / Eagle Scout projects that benefit the community
Nursing / Retirement homes
Riding Unlimited
Lewisville Teen Court
Big Brothers / Big Sisters
Political Involvement (must have approval from sponsors / Faculty Council)
Church work that reaches beyond a specific denomination and is not preaching in nature
(Please note: Church work must reach beyond the church itself and benefit the community at large.  Bible school, singing in the choir, baby-sitting during services, are applauded, but they are not used for the purpose of NHS community service requirements.)

Other service has been accepted when it meets these general requirements:
1)  Helps the community:  that is, the Lewisville, Highland Village, Flower Mound area (some Dallas service, the Soup Kitchen, for example, has also been accepted)
2)  It provides no compensation, monetary or otherwise, to the volunteer.  For example, if a Scout helps with a camp out, that is also benefiting him / her because it is a recreational activity in which he / she also takes part.  This would not meet the guidelines.
3)  It takes place outside regular school hours.

Sponsors and the faculty council must approve any volunteer service not listed above.
