"A film is a ribbon of dreams. The camera is much more than a recording apparatus;
it is a medium via which messages reach us from another world that is not
ours and that brings us to the heart of a great secret. Here magic begins."

The
objectives of The Film Club are
... to provide students the opportunity to explore the language of film.
... to recognize the importance of conveying messages through film elements.
... to give students valuable experience in analyzing and producing media.
... to learn techniques to plan, create, present, and evaluate a video project.
... to produce a video for a particular target audience.
The Marcus HS Film Club was started by students who
are interested in making and developing student films. Ms. Hardy is the adviser
of the club. The Club meets each Monday morning in room B215 at
8am. Fifty-one Marcus High School students participate in the club. Students
have divided into groups and are currently working on short films. The topics
include documentaries, issues at MHS, spoofs on current films, etc.
Students will be making short films every four to six weeks.
Creative ideas, music, and writing scripts are all a part of the film experience.
The goal of our club is to critique films and to host a film festival sometime
this year with area schools.
